Why ARMS

A maintenance-first commercial roofing company

Our job is to keep existing roofs in service longer, document what condition they're in and respond fast when they leak. Replacement isn't what we sell.

Why maintenance-first

Building owners overspend on reactive repairs and on replacing roofs too early. For many national reroofers, maintenance is a lead source for replacement work. For ARMS, maintenance is the product. We don't sell replacements, so we have no incentive to recommend one, and owners and property managers can take our recommendations at face value.

Our mission is to extend the service life of commercial roofs, lower owners' total roofing cost and give them an honest, documented picture of what their roofs actually need.

Federal-grade QC on every job

ARMS was founded on extensive field superintendent, QC management and Division 7 consulting experience on commercial and federal (USACE and VA) roofing work. We apply that discipline to every job, whether it's a federal facility or a strip center.

  • Division 7 fluency. We read and work to thermal and moisture protection specifications.
  • QC on every repair. Lead technician self-check and photo closeout, random supervisor audits of completed work, and callback tracking with root-cause review.
  • Approval before big repairs. Repairs over a set dollar threshold need written customer approval before we proceed.

Safety program

ARMS runs a written safety program built to OSHA 1926 Subpart M (fall protection), with EM 385-1-1 compliance for federal work. It covers roof-edge fall protection plans, ladder and access procedures, skylight protection, hot work permits for torch-applied repairs, heat illness prevention, weather stop-work criteria and documented crew training.

Diagnostics we own

ARMS already owns infrared thermography and electric field vector mapping (EFVM) equipment, a diagnostic capability most repair-focused contractors don't have in-house. We use it for standalone moisture surveys, in the Fully ARMed tier and to scope repairs accurately. More on moisture surveys.

Standardized digital reporting

Every visit produces the same kind of report, with a roof plan, dated and geotagged photos, findings, work performed, a condition rating per section and recommendations. Across a portfolio, that means one consistent roof record. See what's in a report.

Crews built to fix it the first time

Our base unit is a two-person service crew, a lead technician and a technician, in a fully stocked service truck. Each truck carries repair materials for every major roof system, so most leaks can be fixed on the first visit. Lead technicians are trained on every system, on our documentation standards and on safety.

Based in Martin, Georgia

ARMS is based in Martin, in Stephens County, and serves northeast Georgia, upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina. View service areas.

Meet the founder

Robert D. "Bob" Stanley, Founder

Bob has spent more than 15 years in commercial, industrial and government construction, specializing in Division 7 work: roofing, waterproofing and building envelope systems. As founder of R.W. Stanley, INC., a North Georgia consulting firm, he has served as roofing consultant and quality control representative on federal and institutional projects across the Southeast and beyond. These include VA medical centers in Dublin, GA, Montgomery and Tuskegee, AL, Louisville and Lexington, KY, Ann Arbor, MI and Mountain Home in Johnson City, TN, plus Eglin AFB, NAS Pensacola after Hurricane Sally, the Alabama Air National Guard airfield in Birmingham, and National Park Service sites in the Everglades and at Fort Barrancas. More than once, he's been brought in to get a troubled roofing project back on schedule and budget, including a $1.8 million roofing project at Mountain Home VA that had fallen behind schedule and gone over budget.

Bob is a Level II Thermographer and holds OSHA 30 and USACE EM 385-1-1 safety training. His leak investigations combine infrared thermography, tracer dyes, core sampling and controlled flood testing, and his reports document findings with annotated photos.

He started ARMS to give building owners that same oversight-level discipline on the roofs they already have: find problems early, fix them right the first time, and document everything.
